Hello, I am Darren.

I have been a Counselor in Hawaii’s public school system since 2001, having been employed at Kawananakoa Middle School, Central Middle School,  Lunalilo Elementary School, and currently a Counselor at SEEQS Public Charter School.

I have always enjoyed working with teens, building supportive relationships with them, and inspiring them to do their very best in school and in life.

My goals in being a Teen Coach are to give young students experiences – internships, job opportunities and volunteer positions – so that they may find purpose in their young lives, passion for what they love to do, and gain career and life skills in the process. I am here to support each of them on their unique journey through their teen years.

I am a father of two young children. I often think about what I want for them in the not-too-distant future – in their teen years and beyond. I wish for them to have a many of positive experiences to learn and grow from, to better understand who they are, their strengths and what they are passionate about, to begin to think about a purpose and a vision for their life ahead, and to build positive relationships with people who will support them in their journey.

In my life, I have gone to college in California, lived in a few US states, traveled to many places around the world, and have met many wonderful people. I wish for more for my children and for yours.
